Ecology
It occurs in tropical water close to coral reefs, inshore bays and seagrass beds. Bluehead Wrasse feeds on zooplankton, crustaceans and ectoparasites found on other fishes. Local social conditions can lead to a change of sex from large females to secondary males
Description
Fish in the initial phase have yellow upper bodies and white lower bodies. Often green or black lateral stripes and rarely dark vertical bars can be seen in this phase. Large females and occasionally males have a blue head with black and white bars and a green body.
