Ecology

This species prefers shallow coral reefs and isolated patch reefs. The main food source is algae, but they also feed polychaetes, hydroids, copepods, ascidians and plankton. Adults reproduce all year long with reproductive peaks from April to November.

Description

Length ranges from 2 to 4 inches. The head region is often dark, while the rest of the body is pale, sometimes showing hints of yellow. Exhibits a wide variety of color patterns.
