Ecology
This species is solitary or lives in small groups. They feed on algae and inhabits in reef and sea grass habitats in depths from 10 till 60 feet.
Description
In the Terminal Phase this species has a greenish color with a lighter underside. The anal fin is reddish and the size is between 6 to 10 inches. From the corner of the mouth to the eye can be seen a band, which varies from salmon to yellow in its color. Readband Parrotfish in the Initial Phase varies from olive, green or blue body with with red fins to mottled brown and two white stripes. The size is typically two and a half to six inches. Juveniles display shades of red-brown and orange with white stripes in the middle and with a size of maximum three inches.
