Ecology

It mainly inhabits on coral reefs in depths between 15 and 100 feet. This species feeds on soft algae, worms and small crustaceans.

Description

The head and body is covered with black and white stripes and the rear dorsal and tail fin is black with white spots. The front dorsal fin is unusually long and the total size is between 6 and 9 inches. Juveniles have black and white bars on head and a long black stripe from dorsal fin to tail with a maximum size of one and a half inches.
